Her sister is singer, dancer, and actress Midori. Jody has a daughter with her former fiancée, music producer Leon Sylvers III; and a son with her former husband, bassist, songwriter, and record producer André Cymone.

Jody’s paternal grandfather was Bishop J. E. Watley.
